Roszdravnadzor expects savings from the labeling of medicinal products

Roszdravnadzor expects that the total savings from the introduction of labeling of medicinal products will amount to several billion rubles a year, said Mikhail Murashko, the Head of Roszdravnadzor, to reporters.

In the period from February 1 to December 31, 2017, Russia is conducting an experiment on labeling the medicines on a voluntary basis for a limited set of drugs (primarily from the list of 7 High-Cost Nosologies); from January 1 to December 31, 2018, the mandatory labeling will apply to 100% of medicines released in circulation.

“We forecast that the savings will amount to several billion rubles; this includes not only eliminating the resale of drugs purchased under state procurement, but also the savings for manufacturers, including the planning of output, so that the manufacturers do not simply produce to stock but manage their funds more efficiently. This will give them visibility of their sales volumes and the system will provide real savings,” said Mr. Murashko.
