All medicinal products available on the Russian market will be labeled within 6 years and will not be allowed to circulate in the market after the expiration of that period. This was announced by the head of Roszdravnadzor Mikhail Murashko.
By the end of 2018, the labeling of medicinal products will become mandatory for all manufacturers.
“The maximum shelf life of medicinal products may be up to five years. Based on this, we expect that, after the mandatory introduction of labeling, some unlabeled pharmaceuticals may remain in circulation for another 5 years,” said Mr. Murashko.
Currently, Russia is implementing a pilot project on labeling of medicinal products distributed in the country. The first stage of the pilot project will continue until June 2017. “Within 4 months, the software will be finalized and installed in the industrial circuit, and then the experiment participants will get access to the system,” said the representative of Roszdravnadzor.
