During CPhI Worldwide in Frankfurt in early November 2019, the Czech company IMCoPharma, a well-known supplier of APIs and excipients in Russia, Ukraine and CIS countries, signed an agreement according to which the process of acquisition of majority share by Dutch company Barentz was officially launched. Two weeks later, at Pharmtech 2019 in Moscow, representatives of both Barentz and IMCoPharma commented on this fact.
Company Barentz was founded 165 years ago, we are the only ones in the world, I suppose, among distributors that deal with Life Science, and we focus on the pharmaceutical, food, and cosmetic industries. We have been present in Russia for 12 years. We cover 70 countries in the world, but there is a strategic development plan in which Russia plays a very important role. Company IMCoPharma is very active in the post-Soviet space, especially in Russia, and their vision of the future of the market brought us to the point that we wanted to take part in this. And I think that by common resources that appear after such an acquisition, even much more can be achieved. We believe in this direction, we believe in this region and we think that over the next couple of years we will see a significant growth of our business in the pharmaceutical sector, and not only, as we work in cosmetics throughout the region, – said Michael Chenkeli, Managing Director Russia, Ukraine and CIS, Barentz International
