Russian government extended drug labeling pilot project until the end of 2019

Russian Prime Minister, Dmitry Medvedev, signed Resolution No. 1018 of August 28, 2018, according to which in order to provide information and technical support to the priority project  “Implementation of an automated system for monitoring the movement of medicinal products from the manufacturer to the end user to protect the public from counterfeit medicines and promptly remove counterfeit and inferior drugs from circulation” before the introduction of mandatory labeling of medicines, the terms of the pilot project on marking with control symbols and monitoring circulation of certain types of drugs was extended until the end of 2019.

In accordance with Government Decree of January 24, 2017 № 62, in Russia a pilot project is conducted on marking with control (identification) symbols and monitoring circulation of certain types of medicinal products for human use. Participation in the pilot project is voluntary.

The pilot project is carried out within the framework of the priority project “Implementation of an automated system for monitoring the movement of medicinal products from the manufacturer to the end user to protect the public from counterfeit medicines and promptly remove counterfeit and inferior drugs from circulation” (the passport of the priority project was approved at a meeting of the Presidium of the Presidential Council for Strategic development and priority projects on October 25, 2016).
