Most drugs developed in Russia are related to cancer treatment

In addition to development of medicinal products for treatment of various oncological diseases, other most common Russian developments include drugs for the treatment of infectious and inflammatory diseases, wounds, and burns. This was reported by the Russian Federal Service for Intellectual Property.

According to the agency, a significant number of new drugs are intended for treatment of arrhythmia, neurological and mental diseases, such as neuroses, psychopathy, depression, emotional stress, and anxiety disorders.

Russian scientists also pay much attention to the medicines for the treatment of inflammatory diseases of eyes and metabolic disorders, in particular, obesity and diabetes.

According to statistics released by the agency, in 2017, there were 13% more patents issued in the category of drugs and medicines for therapeutic, dental or hygienic purposes than in 2016.
