SmithHealthcare began to design a plant for developing and manufacturing medical devices and medical equipment in Novoorlovskaya Special Economic Zone (St. Petersburg). Investors expect that, after reaching its design capacity, the plant will generate annual revenue of $40 million.
The enterprise will manufacture dialyzers, plasmapheresis filters, arteriovenous lines, IV lines for pharmaceutical products and contrast agents, equipment for plasmapheresis and hemodialysis. A well-known Austrian company that had implemented many projects in the area of life science, including for B. Braun Melsungen AG, F. Hoffmann-La Roche AG, Novartis International AG, has been engaged as a designer.
SmithHealthcare JSC plans to start building a plant for medical devices and equipment under its own brand as early as at the beginning of 2019. Investments in the project will reach 915.4 million rubles. The production facility with a total area of 5 thousand sq. m. will include “clean rooms” of about 1 thousand sq. m., where the company will manufacture its products. The facility is expected to feature a rhodotron, an E-beam accelerator, and the company wants to offer this service to other manufacturers.
