Russia proposed to open so-called “green channel” for Japanese pharmaceutical and medical device companies. This was announced by the Russian Deputy Prime Minister Olga Golodets before her meeting with the Japanese Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Hiroshige Seko.

“We proposed to consider opening of so-called “green channel” for pharmaceutical and medical device companies. We want to facilitate access of Japanese companies to the Russian market,” said the Deputy Prime Minister.

She added that the Russian Federation “is interested in the presence of Japanese companies on the Russian market, because they manufacture high-quality products.”

How will these plans affect Russian pharmacists and medical equipment manufacturers?

David Melik-Guseynov, the Director of Research Institute for Healthcare and Medical Management, said, “The competition in the local market will be somewhat tougher, but it will not become so critical that someone will have to leave this market. Russian market is experiencing growth and, as long as it is growing, there is enough room for all participants.”
