National PET-Technology network covers nine Russian regions

PET-Technology, the national network of nuclear medicine centers established with the RUSNANO support, opened its 10th center in Samara. In addition to cancer diagnosis, for the first time in Russia, it will be possible to diagnose cardiovascular diseases using PET/CT.

The investments in Samara center amounted to more than 410 million rubles. Total investments in the national PET centers network reached 4.4 billion rubles.

PET-Technology is the first company in Russia that have implemented full-cycle nuclear medicine ranging from manufacturing of radiopharmaceuticals and their logistics in Russia to PET/CT diagnostics, treatment with Cyber-Knife system, and introduction of patient monitoring system.

Anatoly Chubais, the Chairman of the Executive Board of RUSNANO, said, “The newly opened center is the tenth in the national network and its opening has completed the establishment of a large-scale diagnostic hub that combines a production facility in Ufa and diagnostic centers in Ufa, Togliatti, Yekaterinburg, and Samara. With the new PET center in Samara, PET-Technology national network covers nine Russian regions providing access to high-tech medical care for more than 28 million people.”

The center features Discovery PET/CT 610, an expert-level diagnostic scanner. This model is capable to perform full examination in 16 minutes, allowing examination of 30 patients a day.

The radiopharmaceuticals required for PET/CT diagnostics will be supplied by Ufa-based production facility owned by PET-Technology.
