The Uzbek Ministry of Foreign Affairs published the Decree of the President of Uzbekistan “On Measures for Further Regulation of Manufacturing and Imports of Medicines and Medical Devices.”
The document established that:
- Medicines and medical devices shall be recognized as products of domestic manufacturing, if they are manufactured under the complete or incomplete technological cycle
- Medicines and medical devices shall not be recognized as products of domestic manufacturing, if they do not meet the above criterion or the one for the manufacturing of “in bulk” products
- Medical equipment shall be recognized as products of domestic manufacturing, if all or individual components and technological parts are manufactured by the enterprise itself, except for the labeling and packaging, or manufactured by assembling the components and technological parts, including the imported ones, except for the labeling and packaging.
When participating in public procurement, the enterprises manufacturing the medicines and medical devices under complete and incomplete technological cycle, as well as the medicines and medical devices as “in bulk” products, which have no similar domestically manufactured products, shall be provided the price preferences in the amount of 20% of the cost of similar products made by foreign manufacturers.
