In January-September 2017, the exports of medical and pharmaceutical goods and services from Belarus reached $63.6 million. This was announced by Valery Malashko, the Minister of Health, at the meeting of the section of Medical and Pharmaceutical Sciences held during the 2nd Congress of Scientists of Belarus.
In April, in his annual Address to the Belarusian people and the National Assembly, the President of Belarus said that, this year, it was planned to generate $40 million from the exports of medical services.
“This figure has been already exceeded,” said Valery Malashko.
For the first nine months of the year, the exports of medical and pharmaceutical goods and services (including in the area of education) through all sales channels reached $63.6 million.
Today, in the domestic market, the share of Belarusian medicines is more than 56% in value terms. The share of exports of medicinal products in the total output is estimated at 27%. The pharmaceutical companies from Belarus export their products to 32 countries.
72 new medicinal products were registered or their manufacturing was at the implementation stage in January-August 2017. More than 100 new methods of medical care have been approved or were at the stage of introduction in January-September 2017. More than 250 new medical technologies developed by Belarusian medical scientists in previous years within the scientific and technological activities of state research institutions were implemented in the health care practice in 2016-2017.
