Armenian pharmaceutical companies work on expanding their exports of drugs

The pharmaceutical companies in Armenia work on expanding the exports of Armenian drugs and already achieved some progress. This was announced by Albert Saakyan, the Deputy Director of the Expert Center for Medicinal Products and Equipment of the Armenian Ministry of Health.

About 10% of medicinal products registered in Armenia are locally manufactured drugs. They cover about 7% of the local demands.

“Armenia imports about 90% of required medicinal products. Most imports of medicines come from Switzerland, Hungary, Germany, France, Slovenia, Russia, Austria, Georgia, United Kingdom, and the USA,” said Albert Saakyan, the Deputy Director of the Expert Center for Medicinal Products and Equipment of the Armenian Ministry of Health.

He added that the drugs manufactured in Armenia are exported mainly to Iraq, Moldova, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Russia, Latvia, Georgia, Uzbekistan, Belarus, Ukraine, Yemen, and Vietnam.

Among the main exporters are ArpiMed, Liqvor, PharmaTech, and Yerevan Pharmaceutical Plant.

 “According to our information, the pharmaceutical companies in Armenia work on expanding the exports of Armenian drugs and already achieved some progress. For example, CJSC Liqvor received the GMP quality certificate and began exporting its products to Iraq and Vietnam,” said Albert Saakyan.
