On July 10, the Governor Alexey Gordeyev and Professor Dr. Michael A. Popp, CEO & Chairman of the Board of Directors of Bionorica SE who visited the Voronezh region, placed a time capsule in the foundation of the pharmaceutical plant. The official ceremony was held in the Maslovsky industrial park.
The facility will be located on a land plot with the surface area of 12.2 hectares. Stage 1 will involve the construction of three buildings. This will include the workshops for packaging solid and liquid drugs, technical offices and a lab, product warehouse with administrative offices (procurement, planning, management) and premises for power supply to manufacturing workshop and auxiliary buildings. At first, the plant is expected to manufacture the packaging for the medicines and, later, it will operate as a full-cycle production facility, including the extraction and cultivation of medicinal herbs.
The plant is scheduled to operate at its full capacity from 2021, and the construction is expected to be completed as early as 2019. The enterprise will create more than 100 new jobs.
The investments in Stage 1 of the plant will amount to almost 2.5 billion rubles. Overall, the plant will cost about 4.5 billion rubles. The fact that the first plant in Russia is being built in the Voronezh region means not only new jobs and taxes, but also prestige. The facility will manufacture pharmaceutical products from medicinal herbs. We hope that the plant will set up the production of raw materials of herbal origin, as our agriculture has such potential. This means establishing a real cluster, said the Governor.
