Igor Artemyev, the Head of the Federal Antimonopoly Service, informed Dmitry Medvedev, the Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation, on the results of measures taken to reduce the prices of vital and essential drugs purchased with the funds from the federal budget.
As a result of these measures, FAS Russia succeeded in reducing the registered maximum ex-works prices set by the manufacturers for 425 items of vital and essential drugs to the level of minimum prices in the reference countries (21 countries).
In addition, the manufacturers are voluntarily reducing the prices on other medicinal products. The revision of manufacturer prices leads to additional savings of budgetary funds.
According to Igor Artemyev, in 2017, for the Russian Ministry of Health alone (excluding the regional procurement), the annual savings resulting from the price reduction will be more than 5 billion rubles.
