During the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, the territory of Novoorlovskaya Special Economic Zone hosted the official ceremony held by JSC Pharmasyntez-Nord to mark the opening of a plant for manufacturing the advanced medicinal products.
The Governor of St. Petersburg Georgy Poltavchenko said that the launch of this new production facility owned by the largest pharmaceutical company in Russia is important for the whole country. The plant will manufacture the drugs for the treatment of oncological diseases. The Governor emphasized that, from now on, it would no longer be necessary to spend large amounts on purchasing the expensive medicines abroad. “These are signicant savings that will allow to invest the budgetary funds in the development of other areas, including in the social sphere, and to build new medical facilities,” said Georgy Poltavchenko. He noted that this new research and production complex meets the most stringent international standards. It features the latest technological lines, which ensures high quality of manufactured products.
The five medicines that will be produced at the new plant are included in the list of strategically important drugs, the manufacturing of which must be provided within Russia. The second stage of the project involves the creation of biotech products.
