“An experiment on labeling the medicinal products will be launched in June,” announced Andrey Baturkin, the Deputy Head of the Federal Tax Service of Russia, at a meeting held to discuss the implementation of the labeling system in the Russian Federation. The meeting was attended by representatives of the Eurasian Economic Commission and Roszdravnadzor.
Russian Federal Tax Service is preparing for an experiment on labeling certain types of medicinal products since January 2017. This will involve the voluntary labeling of at least 5 international nonproprietary drug names included in the list of medicinal products to treat the patients with hemophilia, cystic fibrosis, Gaucher disease, malignant neoplasms of lymphoid, hematopoietic and related tissues, multiple sclerosis, and patients after transplantation of organs and/or tissues.
“All drugs will be labeled by the end of 2018,” said Andrey Baturkin.
The medicinal products will be labeled by using Data Matrix, a two-dimensional barcode selected for its better economic efficiency and conformity to labeling standards established in the pharmaceutical industry.
The experiment will involve representatives of major manufacturers and distributors of medicinal products, some pharmacies and hospitals.
