Merck, a leading science and technology company across life sciences, healthcare, and performance materials, has announced the expansion of its M Lab Collaboration Centre in Bangalore, India. The facility will provide biopharmaceutical manufacturers with a “shared, exploratory environment where they can closely collaborate with Merck scientists and engineers to solve their toughest challenges and accelerate development of new therapies,” the company said in a release.

The expanded centre, measuring 8,500 sq ft, includes a simulated manufacturing environment and enables collaboration with Merck experts to evaluate processes and accelerate development and production of new therapies. In addition, customers will receive education on best practices and new approaches to develop, optimize, and scale up processes and ways to simplify global technology transfer.

“Bengaluru is a hub for India’s rapidly growing biopharmaceutical manufacturing industry,” said Udit Batra, member of executive board and CEO, Merck Life Science. “With the expansion of our M Lab Collaboration Centre in Bengaluru, we are providing customers with hands-on experience and customised support required to optimise their manufacturing processes to quickly bring much-needed therapies to patients.”

The new M Lab Collaboration Centre in Bangalore is one of 9 such centers around the world. Each centre helps customers, government collaborators, academia, regulatory bodies, and industry associations to increase their productivity, mitigate risk and improve processes with the help of an industry-leading team of Merck experts, the company said.
