The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) of Russia will develop a system of international comparative analysis of drug prices. This was announced by Timofey Nizhegorodtsev, the Head of the Department for Control over Social Sphere and Trade of FAS of Russia.
“The system of international analysis of drug prices is almost ready for use. We actually started to create it in order to implement the assignment of the President of the Russian Federation to conduct an international comparative study of prices for medicinal products. After monitoring the prices for medicinal products in collaboration with trade missions of Russia in different countries, we have compiled a database of reference sources for these prices. The system developed by FAS takes into account the verified drug price databases compiled by the national health authorities. These databases will form the core of the system. Unfortunately, so far this work is being conducted “manually,” said Mr. Nizhegorodtsev.
He added that the system will address two problems – it will allow to expand the number of national sources of referenced data on drugs together with the foreign partners of FAS, including the competition authorities in the member states of BRICS, EU and EAEU; and it will automate the work on the project.
