Imports of pharmaceutical products to Russia surge by 29.7%

In January-February 2017, Russia increased the imports of goods from outside the CIS by 26.1% compared to the same period of last year to reach $24.17 billion, according to preliminary data released by the Russian Federal Customs Service (FCS).

Moreover, in February 2017, the imports of goods from non-CIS countries to the Russian Federation surged by 14.4% compared to the previous month to reach $12.89 billion.

At the same time, in February 2017, the imports of products from outside the CIS to Russia rose by 17.4% on a year-on-year basis. The deliveries of chemical products grew by 18.8%.

Among the products of chemical industry, the imports of pharmaceuticals increased by 29.7%; cosmetics, by 20%; organic and inorganic chemicals, by 14.7%; polymers and rubber, by 12.5%; soaps and synthetic detergents, by 6.8%.
