In 2016, 116 new locally manufactured medicines have been registered in Belarus, said Tatyana Tumelya, Head of Production and Future Development Directorate, Pharmaceutical Industry Department, the Ministry of Health of Belarus, at the meeting with reporters in the press center of BelTA news agency.
“In 2016, we registered 116 new locally manufactured medicines in Belarus. Over the past seven years, there has not been a year with less than 100 new medicinal products launched in the market; in 2015, there were as many as 180 such products,” added Tatyana Tumelya.
As of March 1, 2017, 4.5 thousand medicinal products had the registration in Belarus, including 1.6 thousand locally manufactured drugs.
In 2016, the volume of pharmaceutical market in Belarus stood at $636.8 million, which is 4% lower than in 2015. In value terms, the share of locally manufactured medicinal products in the market of Belarus amounted to 51.9% in 2016. According to Belstat, the volume of medicinal products manufactured last year was Br891.5 million. About 70% of this volume was produced by state-owned pharmaceutical enterprises, said Tatyana Tumelya.
