Implementation of the pilot project on barcode labeling of medicines for consumers protection from substandard and counterfeit drugs is being conducted in accordance with the schedule, and the marked medicines will appear in pharmacies as early as June 2017. This was reported to TASS agency in the press service of the supervisory authority.
The pilot project was launched on February 1, 2017. “Implementation of the experiment on the marking of medicinal products is going in the operating mode in accordance with the schedule,” said the press-service in the statement.
Testing and implementation of an automated system for movement monitoring of medicines from the manufacturer to the consumer are planned for May-June 2017.
“25 drug manufacturers, 5 largest pharmaceutical distributors, about 30 healthcare organizations, and more than 250 retail pharmacies have expressed willingness to participate in the pilot project,” specified the Federal Service for Surveillance in Healthcare .
